    FAQS :

Does it work well with the eye being smaller than the bottom if you have a glass top and own the 15-quart and above pressure canner?

Answer: I have the 915 and 930 and have been using them simultaneously on a Maytag glass top. I've been using them for several years with no difficulties. I take care not to drag them across the glass surface. They're also about the same size as the two huge burners, so I've had no problems with heat. There were many skeptics who said it couldn't be done, especially with the 930.

Does it include a wire rack?

Answer: The 21.5 GT comes with two racks as well; they don't tell you that, so don't go out and buy two like I did before you get your canner.

IS THIS COOKER/CANNER CAPABLE OF HOLDING 1/2-GALLON JARS? HOW MUCH?

The 15 1/2-quart canner cannot accommodate 1/2-gallon jars. It is insufficiently tall.

Can you explain why the 21- and 25-quart canners are priced differently yet have the same canning capacity?

Answer: A 21-quart AA holds 21 quarts of liquid, whereas a 25-quart AA holds 25 quarts. These are used not just as pressure canners but also as pressure cookers.

Is the capacity the same as 21.5 qt.? Is a layer of pints larger than 7 quarts possible in this one?

Yes, a layer of pints might be placed on top of quarts. I don't because it causes my pints to be overly processed. I normally process pints since they allow me to fit a larger quantity (19 pints or 9.5 quarts) than quarts (7). I have a variety of jars that individuals have given me, and I find that the older jars allow me to fit more. Because of the shape of the newer jars, I could only fit 18 quarts in one.

Is it safe to use on a gas stove?

Answer: We have an older model of this canner that works fine on a propane burner with cast iron grates. We started with a 15K burner and then (very gently) transferred it to a 5K burner. Once the pressure was reached, the 5K's low setting held the pressure exactly where we wanted it.
