    Was the prior device owner's Mac address released? What happens if you don't?

    Answer: I believe my modem was released because I had no trouble registering my equipment with Comcast. In the past, I experienced problems with Comcast registering my equipment to a different address, but I was able to resolve the issue with customer support. I'm sure a photo of the gadget would assist to resolve any concerns.

    Do you double-check that the Arris SB8200 is no longer registered with Xfinity before mailing it?

    Answer: I'm not sure what you're talking about. However, if you are referring to connecting and utilizing it, you must contact Xfinity and provide them with the model of the modem you are using. They will need to configure their end to make it function. They finished mine in around 20 or 30 minutes.

    Is this compatible with the Century Link?

    Answer: The majority of US cable service providers support this product. Please check with your individual service provider to ensure that this product is supported and that it corresponds to your service tier.

    Is it possible to connect a phone line to this unit?

    Answer: There isn't a phone jack, but you can use any Ethernet service, such as Obi200 (assuming they don't conduct any 'Mandatory upgrades' shenanigans) and Google Voice. It works well; however, you must use Ethernet rather than the phone line/cable company supplied.

    Why is it that Netgear does not release firmware updates for their modems? Why do they encourage you to contact your internet service provider to upgrade their products?

    Answer: I just went to 192.168.1.1, accessed the modem software, and upgraded my firmware where it indicated firmware update ready to install. The CAX80 is the most recent cable modem, and I can't tell you how well it works with previous cable modems.

    Is this Susdenlink compatible?

    Answer: Contact Susdenlink; they will be able to inform you if you need to rent their modem router or if you may supply your own, as well as the criteria. I'm confident that if they let you to use your own modem router, this one will suffice.
