    FAQS :

Do you think I could use this for cars?

Answer: After some trial and error in a professional body shop, here is a procedure that will astound you that we devised.... (For extremely really extremely filthy and unclean automobiles) 1) Give the entire seat a pretreatment with Oxyclean. Do not be afraid to get it extremely damp or wet. Let it sit for 5-7 mins. 2) Add water to the machine and load it with five parts Folex. (for reviews of Folex, look here; you can get it for half off at Home Depot or Lowe's.) 3) Using the spray wand, evenly coat the entire seat with heated folex mixture. You can no longer deny that you are soaked. (ie drenched) 4) WORK IT IN BY HAND FIRST, THEN APPLY IT WITH A BRUSH.. (like a 6 inch brush) Scrub a dub dub... 5) Vac Vac Vac Vac water up. Move the wand more slowly than you believe you should. 6) THE TRUTH BEHIND THE MAGIC... Fill a spray bottle with extremely warm, unflavored water and get it ready. Brush first, then soak in a lot of hot water, and last vac... And just watch all of that garbage fly out of the seat. 7) Repeat step 6. 8) Give it one last vac (gently, squeeze out every last drop of water), and you're finished. Now that you've been warned, your chairs will be soaked... You should also know that the seats will get MUCH wetter than you probably ever thought they would, but if you leave the vehicle in the sun for a few hours, the moisture will evaporate; alternatively, you might place a large fan on the seats. Make it a point to put off driving until the next day. (leave the car parked overnight with the windows open and the fan on; the seats will dry on their own, but you have to help them; don't lock the car and go away) We remove the seats from the vehicle and dry them in the direct sunlight... This is the finest option available to you if you are able to do so. Or, you could clean two seats in the morning and then give them the rest of the afternoon to dry... the important thing is to make sure everything is completely dry before you lock the car. The procedure described above on a minivan will take you pretty much a whole working day to complete... but the results will blow your mind.

Has anyone shelled out the thirty dollars necessary to get the powered "turbo head brush" as an optional extra? What do you think?

My history with carpet cleaners is long and illustrious. Stay away from the accessories labelled "power brush." They get their power through rerouting more than half of the power from the suction through a turbine, which spins the brushes in order to power them. In order to prevent that vacuum from sucking the moisture out of your carpet, turn off the suction. If you have a spinning brush, you are wasting more than half of the suction force of the machine, and it is highly unlikely that the brush will be powerful enough to achieve anything anyhow. It is useless and a complete loss unless the power brush is powered by an electric motor that is housed in the handle of the brush, which is an extremely rare occurrence these days. Unfortunately, you will have greater results if you just put in some extra effort. However, the brush movement is not what actually gets the job done when using one of these carpet cleaners. It is accomplished through the use of chemical cleaning compounds in conjunction with the suction power of the device, which pulls those chemicals (together with the dirt or stain) back up out of the carpet. The main purpose of the brush is to simply spread the chemicals about so that every bit of the grime and stain is covered in the solution provided by the cleaning product.

Do the tools that are used for the brush heads come apart so that they may be cleaned? This was a major drawback of my previous Bissell Little Green model, and it appears that these have the same problematic design.

Only the larger brush head can be disassembled; the smaller one cannot be removed. I attempted to remove it but was unsuccessful; upon closer inspection, I discovered that the plastic clear section had been glued in place, so it cannot be removed at all for cleaning.

May I use this sterilised infant orine?

Just do what any other regular parent would do and wash Orine as you normally would.

There are a lot of folks who claim there is a flaw where the hose connects to the handle, and they say it breaks. Does anybody know if Bissell fixed this issue? Or do they provide you with it?

Because of the issue that has been stated, the answer is that I am currently in the process of replacing mine. After a certain number of uses, the hose will eventually become brittle, and the section of the hose that connects to the suction handle will eventually break. The issue is that this particular model does not come with a hose replacement. In addition, I researched other methods for replacing the hose, and it appears that the machine will need to be disassembled in order for me to access the end of the hose that is connected to the machine.

The water containers appear to be difficult to drain out completely; this indicates poor design. Is there anyone else finding that to be difficult?

Answer: Yes! It was quite difficult for me to empty the tank that held the unclean water. It is possible to remove the plastic tank that is attached to the machine. There was a video that demonstrated how to disassemble a portion of that tank in order to gain access to all of its internal compartments. I'm sorry, but I'm not allowed to share the link here; nonetheless, I do hope that this explanation is helpful. Remove the tank that holds the filthy water from the machine. The next step is to take the handle in purple, move it up and over the tank, then put it back down. It will get stuck at the top and appear as though it cannot go any further; but, if you keep pressing softly but firmly, the handle will "give" somewhat, allowing it to go well over the top of the tank. This represents an almost complete turnaround from where it was before. You may now slide your fingers under the top section, scoop them up, and pull them off. You can make out the cracks in the plastic that appear to be forming there. After it has been taken apart, the tank can be washed in the sink without restricting either of its halves. I was reluctant to push it over the top because that's where it naturally stops, but it does go over the top.

What is the primary distinction between the Bissell 2458 and the Bissell 3624 spot cleaning machines?

Answer: According to the manufacturer specifications that I've read on Amazon and other websites, they're both the same product with different tools and cleaning solutions. The engine draws the same amount of amps (5.7), holds the same amount of water (96 ounces), and appears to have the same hose length (5 feet for both; however, one site I saw said 2458 is 4 feet, and another site I saw said 3624 is 4 feet, so you should definitely check this yourself if it matters to you). Some third-party reviews claim that the 2458 has marginally superior suction, but my best guess is that this is because they compared the standard attachment of the 2458 (about a 3-inch tool) to the standard attachment of the 3624 (about a 6-inch tool), which has a smaller aperture and, as a result, superior suction. It would appear that the 3624 is packaged with an additional tool that is either analogous to or identical to the regular tool that comes with the 2458. The tool that separates whatever it is from the machine that you're cleaning to prevent it from entering into the machine is included in the 2458 model. According to Bissell, the company donates $10 or some other amount for every 2458 that is sold. According to the prices that I've seen, it appears like they are making up for it by charging more for the one that includes a pet. However, the prices are not constant. Since my cat has been throwing up a lot recently and the 3624 is currently unavailable due to high demand, I finally gave in and purchased the 2458. I'm shelling out a significant amount of additional cash to have the stains removed as soon as possible, but I'm intrigued by the attachment, and we need our rug back.
