    FAQS :

Can this be used on bare floors?

No, it is not intended for use on any hard flooring, including tile. The best carpet cleaning machine I've ever owned As long as you don't overwet it, it should dry in about an hour. The suction is really strong, and the machine is not loud.

What's the distinction between the BG10 and the 10N2?

Answer: My machine, which was ordered on December 5, 2019, has been a disaster, and that's an understatement! to register--- I attempted to register it using the provided registration card, which gave you three alternatives for registering—I chose online. I had no idea there was a business division (which is indicated inside the handbook). I was only going by what was on the warranty card because I hadn't used the machine yet and hadn't looked at the manual. MY MACHINE (yes, the real machine has a label with the model # 10N2 1925700294FXB (serial#) on it (on the base of the handle near the on/off switch). When I entered this for the warranty, it would not accept it because I had unknowingly registered it at the wrong division. I then called, and a woman listened to my dilemma and advised that I use the MODEL# BG10 plus the same serial #. She said she would register it for me if it didn't work, and that number entered also did not work. I wanted written assurance, not just word of mouth, so I called the commercial section again, and you probably guessed it! ---- No, the model numbers previously provided are incorrect! The correct one is 86T3 plus the same serial number. As you can see, the model number is the issue. Also, I was instructed that this machine should be termed "professional" rather than "commercial," even though the manual says otherwise. So Bissell Customer Service provided me a link to enter my numbers, and tah, duh, all of them failed! So I'm back in limbo, not knowing if my phone is registered for a 1-year warranty! Given the past record of some of these carpet machines, I have little choice but to register them. Before this, I had a Hoover All-Terrain Steam carpet cleaner (no longer available; I can see why) that gushed water like a broken dam when we first used it. We couldn't figure out the problem, so we tried everything. Finally, my husband cut it apart and discovered, yes!, a broken chintzy piece of thin plastic that looked like an o-ring. With all the leaky water and a brand new cleaner that was worthless and damaging, I'm beginning to believe that there are no actual brands anymore, just cheap crap with a label slapped on it and the wrong numbers, manuals, and web sites. That's all there is to it! Some of these companies are stealing and robbing people with little redress. Sad!!!!

Is this better than the Bissell professional-grade big green deep cleaning machine?

Answer: I'm not familiar with a professional-grade Bissell Big Green cleaning machine. As far as I know, the Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine is a household item. The BG10 is a commercial unit found in the majority of big hotels and motels across the country.

Can it be used in conjunction with the BISSELL 2X Professional Deep Cleaning Formula? What is the best cleaning solution for BG10?

Answer: The Bissell 2 Deep Clean is truly suggested. The Oxy version is excellent. It recommends using two tank caps full of the solution mixed with the remaining hot water per tank filling. Expect to accomplish about a 15x12 area or less with every tank refill.

What is the distinction between the professional and commercial models?

Answer: The commercial on BG10 uses two motors, one for sucking up water and the other for brushing. The alternative variant features only one dual-action motor. For that reason, I chose the commercial version, BG10. You will not be dissatisfied with this machine.

Is it possible to extend the handle? If not, how long will it take? I'm 5'10" and don't want to bend over to reach a 3' height.

Is it possible to extend the handle? If not, how long will it take? I'm 5'10" and don't want to bend over to reach a 3' height.

What is the distinction between BG10 and 86T3?

Both the BG10 and the 86T3 have consumer warranties. If you use them for commercial purposes and need repairs, they will most likely not be warranted unless you put an individual's name on the registration. Given that the 86T3 comes with a 5-year (consumer) warranty, two motors, a hose, and an adapter, it appears to be the best option. I recently searched on the Bissell website and couldn't find any information on the BG10! 86T3 is still visible. I'll grant that BG10 is simpler to remember than 86T3.

What about pet urine stains? What about pet vomit stains?

Answer: My dog is 12 years old and is now going through this stage; this device always gets the worst stains and odors out. I also (just me, don't do this if you're worried about voiding a warranty or something) put a few drops of tea tree or peppermint oil in my water and shampoo combo, and it always smells amazing for days after! Furthermore, both of those oils are natural flea and tick repellents (we live in the country), so I clean mine with them. This machine removed every stain I've had except acrylic paint, which improved slightly. Lol!! It's unavoidable with three children and two dogs.

What is the difference between this and the Rug Doctor?

My previous Bissell lasted two years. I shampoo carpets 2-4 times per month (kids!). Before purchasing this Bissell, I borrowed a brand new Rug Doctor. There are no parallels. This is superior to Rug Doctor in every aspect. It cleans so much better and works in both directions (I'm not sure why RG doesn't do this!). The tanks are massive, so you won't be continually dumping and refilling. These carpets are cleaner than they've ever been! Every other machine required a prepared solution (1.5 cups of bleach per gallon), or my carpets would not come clean. With this machine, the Bissell Professional solution is all I need—you will not find a better cleaner at this price!

Is there a discernible difference in cleaning between the 10N2 Bissell Big Green deep cleaning machine and the Bissell Big Green 86T3?

Answer: I did some research before purchasing the 86T3 to see what the difference was. According to what I discovered, the 10N2 has a commercial warranty. I looked over the parts list for both devices. The 86t3 comes with a hose kit that hooks into the machine's top and allows you to wash stairs and furniture, among other things. The hose kit is not included as standard equipment with the 10N2. Aside from that, the parts list for both devices is similar. I purchased the 86T3, and it works flawlessly. I can only presume there is no difference in their performance.

What effect does this have on cleaning up to the carpet's edge or corner? I'm concerned because one reviewer stated that it dispenses from the back, which won't moisten certain regions.

Answer: The cleaner will not clean all the way to the edge of your carpets. I used the attachment to clean my edges, and it did an excellent job. If possible, start with the edges and work your way around the space.

How hard would it be to get this machine to the second floor? My townhouse is two stories tall and has carpet on both floors.

Answer: You cannot "carry" this unit upstairs because it is far too heavy, but you can pull it up because it has huge wheels attached to the rear. Because you couldn't lift it with a full tank, I'm assuming you have access to water upstairs. Because of the two-handed grip, you don't notice the weight of this machine while cleaning the carpets. I am over 50 years old and have mild back pain, yet I had no trouble moving this unit and cleaning 3800 square feet of carpet. If you are not frail or have major back problems, I highly suggest this device. It is without a doubt the best carpet cleaning machine I have ever bought or rented.

Is it necessary to use Bissell cleaning products with this machine?

Answer: I purchase commercial concentrates from a local provider who specializes in professional carpet cleaning. The recipes I've used are far superior to Bissell or Rug Doctor brand products, plus they don't stink of scents. They also have a far greater selection of cleaners according to the type of carpet and stain, such as enzymatic cleaners and pre-cleaners. A gallon bottle of basic cleanser (Avenger) costs about $25 and contains literally 10 times the concentration of the residential recipes, making it significantly less expensive. For dog or cat accidents or anything organic, I use a pump-up spray bottle from Home Depot to pre-treat with enzyme cleaning.
