    FAQS :

Embroidering for the first time (well versed in sewing and various other crafts). What am I going to need in order to get started?

When I got this machine, I was also a first-time embroiderer. I only bought the machine since I was on a tight budget at the time. In retrospect, I would also purchase the following: 1) An additional set of hoops For around $100, I bought one from Amazon. It simplifies both little and large projects, as well as providing an extra 5x7 hoop that saves time when switching projects. 2) Bobbins that have already been wound. These, in my opinion, are a must-have with this machine. They improve the sew quality and reduce thread breakage, among other things; 3) Stabilizers of various varieties. For most projects, I utilise peel away, although cutaway and a good water soluable are also required; 4) Extra-sharp embroidery scissors; and 5) good quality embroidered thread and a thread rack. Here, you get what you pay for... Madiera is my favourite, but I've tried a lot of others. Wishing you the best of luck and happy sewing!

    Is this a MAC-compatible machine?

If you require embroidery software for your Mac, look at Embrilliance. Depending on your demands, there is a free version and additional fee-based variants. The Essentials edition is a good place to start. around $125

Is it possible for me to create my own designs?

Yes, you will require digitizer software. SewArt is what I use and it works beautifully with my PE 800 machine. The software comes with a free 30-day trial edition, which is less expensive than other applications on the market, and you can convert various file photos and format them to PSE, which is perfect for my brother's machine. In addition, the software has a wizard that makes it simple to use with only a click of a button. If you need help with how to use the software, there are several tutorials on YouTube that will walk you through the procedures. Is a really basic software that gets a lot of positive feedback. I have no issues, and I recently had a family photograph digitised. The software is available from Brother, although it is somewhat costly.

The colour display on the PE800 is larger, while the monochrome illuminated display on the PE770 is smaller. Is the PE800 capable of reversing and redoing or going back over stitches if the thread breaks?

Yes, there are buttons on the progress screen that allow you to skip forward (or backward) in increments of 1,10, and 100 stitches. The machines' needle and hoop will retrace or fast forward in real time, so you don't have to guess. So, if the hoop slips or the thread breaks, you may pick up just where you left off.
