    FAQS :

Can this machine's stitching feature be used to sew leather and other heavy materials?

Answer: Unless it was a thin piece, I probably wouldn't. That type of material is best left to a machine designed specifically for it. I'd hate to believe that I fried the engine on my $1,000 embroidery machine while attempting to make a straight thread in a leather piece.

What software do I need to make my own designs?

Answer: Embroidery digitising software is used to create your own designs. Here is a FAQ with software options. https://help.brother-usa.com/app/answers/detail/a id/69178

Is it normal for the thread to remain in the channels while winding the bobbin? The thread does not pass through and remain around the tension disc as shown.

Answer: I never use my machines to wind bobbins. I bought the sidewinder at Joann Fabrics with your 50% off coupon for $35.00. When I had thread caught in my Janome machine winding bobbins and it was too expensive to correct, my Janome dealer recommended it. Additionally, it causes wear and tear on your sewing machine. When embroidering, you need a lot of bobbin thread, and this is useful for winding extra bobbins while your machine is stitching away. I hope this was helpful. I recommend it to my friends who are new to needlework.

Is there a video included with the machine that shows how to set it up and utilise the embroidery feature?

As a complete newbie, I had difficulty figuring out how to use the embroidery tool. I didn't stop damaging my belongings until my pro mother-in-law came over to help. My primary issue was that most embroidered fabric necessitates not just the proper stabiliser under the cloth but also a "topper." This is not adequately explained in the instructions. I learned to embroider by taking a lesson at a local quilt store.

How do you change hus-formatted designs so that they can be used on this machine?

Answer: Brother does have software called PE-Design that can import this file format and change it so that it can be used on this machine.

This machine can embroider on leather, right?

Answer: The Brother PE800 can print on fabrics that are less than 3mm (about 1/8 inch) thick.

Can ribbons be stitched on this machine?

The PE800 can be used to embroider on ribbons.

Does the PE800 have the ability to go back over stitches or reverse and redo them if the thread breaks?

Answer: Yes, you can skip forward (or backward) in increments of 1, 10, and 100 stitches using the buttons on the progress screen. You don't have to guess because the needle and hoop of the machine will move backward or forward in real time. So if the hoop slips or the thread breaks, you can start over right where you made the mistake.

What's the difference between the Brother Pe800 and the Pe770?

Answer: The PE770 can embroider up to 5x7", while the PE800 can only do 4x4". The PE800 has a bigger colour screen, while the PE770 has a black-and-white backlit screen. Before embroidering, the PE800 shows a more realistic preview of the design. The PE770 does not have this feature.
