    FAQS :

Is there a cut line for LEDs?

Answer: The LED light can be added to this saw. Instead of a laser, a shadow light is used to illustrate where the saw blade would cut. It was only last night that I completed it. Parts are available for around $70. This effectively transforms it into a Model 780, which is significantly more expensive. It's not difficult to add.

Is there a laser or any kind of guiding device included with this mitre saw?

Answer: As a finish carpenter for over 30 years, I've discovered that the greatest laser is your own eyes. If the saw I'm using has a laser, the first thing I do is disconnect/turn it off... Even when fine-tuned, I've found them to be extremely inaccurate... One Master Carpenter's viewpoint... My only concern is that when shaving a 1/8" to 3/8" off stock, it will fall into the table blade groove, causing the blade to snag cutoffs and rocket out the next cut!!!!

I know Dewalt makes a kit to add xps to several saws, however this model was not listed.

Yes, you are correct... Purchase the parts from your nearest DeWalt Service Center and install them yourself. I used the following parts: N030317 Work Light, 624730-00 Handle Set, and N078832 Power Supply. There is a YouTube video available (be sure to view the one labelled "With circuit diagram"). The total cost of the parts, including tax, was less than $66.00. It took me 15 to 20 minutes to set it up. Replace the top section of the handle, add the light, route the wires, and splice the power wires (see the movie carefully and read the caption on the circuit diagram). It isn't mentioned, but I appreciate how they accomplished the splice) and the power supply installation. The XPS decal is the only thing you'll be missing.

What is the distance between the bottom of the saw (the top of the workbench) and the top of the saw's cutting table?

I have two Dewalt slide saws, to be precise. Mine are both 39/16. The first is an old type I, and the second is a 120-volt battery. The table heights are identical in both cases.

Is the model that is now being shipped type 1 or type 20? If you look at the parts diagram, you'll notice that the type 20's slide mechanism has a different part number.

Answer: I recently received a type 22 on December 17th, 2020. This one has less features than the 20 and 21, therefore I would pass on it at this time. The bevel stops and the slide latch have been removed by Dewalt. Instead, I wish I could have gotten a 21.

Is it true that just a 15.75 is available? "What is the maximum crosscut? I need to chop 3/4 of a birch tree at 16 inches."

If you're cutting your 16s, the answer is yes "If your birch square is 90 degrees, you can finish the cut by lifting the front of the board slightly (about an inch or so). You must ensure that the board's back is seated against the fence and that it is flat against the table. With my Makita LS 1211, which only crosscuts approximately 14 inches, I've been using this method for nearly 20 years ".. To finish your cut, flip the board over AND switch it from end to end if you aren't cutting square. If you only have 1/4 of an hour, this can be difficult "There's still a lot of board to cut.

    What are the installed dimensions?

In fact, once it's installed, the proportions alter to a larger footprint...it'll be 22.5" tall, 32" wide, and 44" long "VERY DEEP...

Is there a blade included in the package?

Answer: Every auction is unique. Mine was incorporated in the mix. Examine the information provided on each auction's page. A DWS 779 with a carbide blade is now available for $349.99. You won't find a better deal.

What is the cutting deck's distance from the table?

2-1/2-3 inches from the table to the actual flat surface where the blade touches the deck
