    FAQS :

Anyone tried dropping the water/shot to 1oz and performing a double shot, i.e. approximately 20 grams of beans and 2 oz espresso...and comparing to the Breville Oracle?

You cannot do that on the Gaggia Babila. The gadget only fires one shot at a time. (You may select the X2 option, but it will fire two rounds, one after the other.) You may, however, increase the amount of coffee it grinds and reduce the amount of water for a single shot to a bare minimum.

Can we use preground coffee in this machine?

Answer: You could, but it's quicker to utilize the whole bean! To use preground coffee, there is a bypass Shute for ground coffee only and a scoop for the grounds; it is temperamental; if too much coffee grounds are put, it will not brew and will dump the grounds!

How does it handle harsh water?

Answer: I reside in the North West, and our water is not hard. After having two machines for six years, the Gaggia was the only one that caused me to do a descaling, and that was after a year. I adore the machine itself. However, be sure you stick to the cleaning schedule.

I recently purchased this machine, and the milk carafe intermittently spits and pours milk all over the place. There isn't always a lovely constant flow. Any recommendations?

Answer: It's most likely not correctly connected. There is only one available outlet. If it "shoots all everywhere," milk is pouring out of an unhooked connection, since the lower section has to snap in for the steam cleaning when you're through.

What are your recommendations for the greatest espresso? How should extraction be optimized for a barista-like cup?

There is no specific setting for it. You must adjust the grinder as you operate the machine and inspect the contents of the cup. If you like a stronger coffee than what is already in your cup... Increase the grind size. Only adjust 1 or 2 dots at a time, and keep in mind that it takes 3 cups to observe a difference.

What Gaggia model is most similar to the discontinued Titanium, which I have and enjoy but has 20k brews in it and is showing signs of wear?

Answer: The ACADEMIA and Titanium have significant feature differences as well as a more durable build quality.
