This "feature" is quite harmful.
It is relatively simple to switch the timer from "off" to continual on once it has passed the "off" setting.
In other words, you set a timer for 20 minutes to cook something, realized it was done in 15, and stopped the timer.
Turning beyond the off position and into the constant on position is quite simple.
Dial movement is left to right:
1. always on 2. always off 3. timer
I regret not returning the extra because of these and other problems because I would not have had to throw it away.

No, it's not so hot outside; after cooking toast, I felt it with my bare hands and it was only warm.

Answer: Neither does the company's use and maintenance manual advise against installing it behind kitchen cabinets, nor does it include any distance measurements in the precautions section addressing clearance space.
You would require at least 14 inches of clearance to allow for an obstruction-free access with the roll-top door in the "up" position.
Additionally, you should leave at least an inch of space behind the oven so that the door may open fully without running into a wall or backsplash tile.
