    FAQS :

What makes the Hamilton Beach stack and push 3-cup food chopper stackable?

The chopper, of course. It's pretty simple to put together. You place the container on the bottom, then the blade assembly, and finally the cover. Other than situating the container such that the semicircle matches the one on the base, there is no twisting or fitting. It's also simple to disassemble and clean. Because it's so simple, I find myself utilizing it all the time.

Can I use this to make a smoothie?

Answer: I've used this to make a variety of smoothies, even those with frozen fruit and small bits of ice! It really works!

Is there a hole in the lid where liquids can be added while blending?

No, but all you have to do is stop pressing on the top, lift it up, and fill it with any liquid you choose. Then continue cutting. It's not a blender, although it can blend some items, including eggs. I wouldn't use it for baking or smoothies, but it was great for making vegetarian burgers or fries with eggs.

Is this OK for making puréed infant food?

Answer: I've never made baby food. However, I have pureed a number of meals. I don't think you'll have any issues.

It may appear strange, but has anyone tried pre-cut bar soap pieces?

Answer: I haven't tried this device for chopping soap, but my larger food processor includes a shred disk that works great for grating soap.

Does this pulverize Oreos into fine crumbs like those used in pie crust?

Yes, it is. For the crust, I ground Graham crackers. Almonds were also processed into almond flour. You can only accomplish a limited amount at a time, but it is extremely quick and simple.

Is the lid free of BPA? Was this stated on the box? I intend to use this for baby food.

"We are pleased to inform you that all plastics used in the provided model number are BPA-free in all food zones," said the company. This includes both the bowl and the cover. It has been our priority and privilege for over 100 years to develop and produce high-quality small appliances. Please be assured that our goods and components are FDA and UL-approved and meet all government regulations. They are also tested by independent laboratories to assure the high quality that Hamilton Beach brand items are known for. Our thorough tests frequently exceed the criteria set by our government, establishing us as an industry leader in quality and safety.

What parts are made of plastic?

Answer: As far as I can tell, the black body is made of plastic, as are the blades, which fit into a plastic piece, and the cover. The container is made of glass. I'm not sure if the interior components are made of plastic or metal.

Is it capable of pureeing food?

Answer: I don't think it's expressly labeled as a blender that purées, but it does. My first try at chopping resulted in finely puréed red peppers and onions with a few lumps. The blade is razor sharp, and it definitely purifies (see my "chopped veg," lol). Smaller amounts, don't overfill it, and do batches if you need a lot, and this item can purée finely enough for baby food.

Dishwasher? I can't tell from the pictures if the black section separates from the bowl. Is there a lot of room where dishwasher water can collect?

No, the black component is linked to the bowl. There are three parts: the bowl, the blade, and the cover.

Does it work well with carrots, celery, potatoes, peppers, and so on?

Answer: I've just tried it for onions, but it works so well that I'm confident it would work for everything else.
