    FAQS :

Can this machine handle jean seams that are thick?

Answer: Yes! Many videos on YouTube show them going through eight layers of denim. I sew bags, and it goes through handles, cork, vinyl, 8 layers of fabric and interfacing, and 4 layers of home decor fabric like butter. It's a great machine for its size.

What about keeping it up? How do you oil the parts and clean them?

Answer: I think you should get it serviced once a year. For more information and excellent offers, please call the store at 800-442-8227 and ask for our sewing specialist.

Does this machine sew upholstery and Sunbrella? I am using the singer heavy duty right now.

Answer: My machine is pretty new, but I used denim to make some overalls and they turned out well. I also know that going from light to heavy material was not a problem. I have not tried Sunbrella. Janome has put up a number of videos on YouTube that show how to use the machine.

Can this machine sew fabric that is very thin? looking for a sewing machine that can sew both thin and thick fabrics

Answer: I bought mine because it was heavy duty. For everything else, I use my old New Home 6000. I'm just used to how easy it is to use my old computer, which I've had for about 30 years. But there is no reason why this machine shouldn't be able to sew light fabrics as well. You can change the tension of the presser foot, so as long as you use the right needle size for lighter fabrics, you shouldn't have any problems.

What is the distinction between the HD 3000 and HD 5000? I'm wanting to buy something for my sister.

Go to the website of Kens Sewing Center. Ken has a nice video that shows the difference in excellent detail. I adore my Janome 5000.

Is there a walking foot included with the Janome hd5000be?

    Yes, it is.

Is it possible to stitch leather with this machine?

Yes, both this and the HD3000 were built for heavy fabrics like leather! Osewpersonal

    Is this machine only 110V?

Answer: I've only used it in that manner. It appears to be the case. Perhaps you can use a converter. Description: Janome HD3000 vs HD5000
