    FAQS :

What is the distinction between this Juki TL 2000Qi and the Juki TL 2010Q?

The Qi has only one tension knob, whereas the Q has two. The Qi lacks a speed control, although the Q does. The Q has various additional presser feet, whereas the Qi only has the regular foot, walking foot, compensatory 1/4" foot, and 1/5 free motion foot.

What kind of feet does this model have? Walking on one foot? Foot FMQ? Zipper?

Answer: Mine arrived with merely a normal sewing foot (NOT 1/4 inch) and a walking foot. I had to purchase a 1/4 inch foot in order to achieve perfect 1/4 inch seams.

Is the knee lever included in this model?

Yes, indeed! I employ the knee lever! I'm delighted I bought it because the machine is fantastic! After I gushed about it, several of my quilting friends purchased it.

    Is this machine's speed adjustable?

Answer: Only the foot pedal, but it's not as fast as industrial machines that are difficult to handle. The only reason it's termed "semi-industrial" is that it can go faster than other home machines I've tried while not shaking off the table, but I wouldn't call it "industrial" at all.

How big is the harp/throat (the area from the needle to the RIGHT side of the machine, where the motor is)?

Answer: It is 8 3/4 inches long from the needle to the right side of the machine. It stands 6 1/2 inches tall from the bottom to the top of the opening.

Does it include any feet? Free movement?

Yes, there are several feet, including a walking foot. If you want a 1/4 foot with a "edge," you'll have to pay $15.99 at the sewing outlet.com. I like to sew using the 1/4 inch edged foot. Otherwise, there are other presser feet to choose from, including the free motion foot. You can allow the feed dogs to move freely. This is a wonderful quilting machine with a great "pin feed" that glides the cloth through like butter. Threading took longer the first time, but after that it was smooth sailing. If you want to produce quilts quickly, like I do, this is an excellent machine. I used to quilt using a Bernina, but I like the Brother. It is more reasonably priced and well-made.

What exactly is the throat space?

When seated at the machine, the throat space is to the right of the needle. The open region between the needle and the machine's vertical side influences how much cloth can fit comfortably within that space when sewing on your project.

Has anyone solved the problem of the clipper yanking the thread out and forcing you to rethread?

Answer: That was happening to me as well, and I discovered that if you only put the thread through one of the three holes on the thread guide at the top of the machine, it stops (directly above the tension dial). The instructions advise to insert it through two of the holes to add tension. If you only use one, the thread will be pulled out of the needle.
