    FAQS :

What size is preferable? 155 or 185?

The 155 is compact and makes a fantastic single or double cup. For quantities requiring more than 24 g of coffee, use the 185. more than 16 ounces worth of coffee at once. I own both and make use of both. The 155 works well for brewing one cup.

What kind of coffee and grind go best with this Kalita?

Regarding the sort of coffee you use, I would suggest using the one you prefer. Ethiopian single-origin light roast coffees are what I favor. And I always use a burr grinder to ground my coffee!

155 Gevalia fine grind is being used. On the first pour of hot water, it drips nicely, but after the second, it stops. Any recommendations?

Using fine grind coffee with this pour over is not an option. There is no getting past the fact that it is clogging. A medium grind of coffee is required.

How many ounces can this truly brew at once?

Every time I brew, I create 28oz (3.5 cups). Pour-over brewers are not the same as Melitas or other drip brewers. Start with a little pour to obtain a bloom, then wait for the bubbles to calm down before filling the brewer, filtering through, and repeating until you complete pouring the 3-4 cups.

What is the difference (which is better) between metal 185 and glass 185? Thank you very much!

Answer: I just have the metal, but I've read that it heats up faster and is certainly more durable. A recent coffee shop has numerous metal ones that they utilized. I didn't notice any glass or pottery.

What distinguishes this from a Melitta cone?

Answer: You won't notice a difference if you use store-bought pre-ground coffee. If you want to make your own beer, the kalita offers a few advantages, such as being constructed of metal rather than plastic.

About this item – Kalita Stainless Steel Wave 155 Coffee Dripper, Size, Silver

    • The 155 is tapered in such a way that it holds the smaller filter more straight up and down, giving a more even bed for the smaller amount of coffee grounds needed for only one cup.
    • As well as allowing the pouring spout to be right at the level of the bed, rather than far above it. At first, I thought the 185 size would be okay for a single cup, and it is.
    • If you’ve ever enjoyed a cup of well-brewed pour-over coffee, such as a flawless Chemex pour, you know how delicious it is.
    • The best coffee dripper currently on the market is from Kalita’s Wave Series. A great cup of coffee can be brewed quickly and easily because of the three-hole design, flat-bottom coffee bed geometry, and proprietary “Wave” filter.
    • You may either install it on a brew stand or straight into a cup (like a Trubru). This size (#185) is ideal for brewing around 26–45 grams of coffee, which will produce between 16 and 26 ounces of brewed coffee.
