    FAQS :

What are the dimensions of this dutch oven (not the box size) (diameter and depth)?

9.5 inches in diameter and 3 inches deep is the answer.

Is it possible to utilise Bar Keepers Friend on it?

Answer: You can use BarKeepers Friend, but it's very abrasive and will ultimately create very minor scratches in the enamel, causing the colour to become hazy and dull. To avoid this, we recommend making a light, lubricated paste with BKF, water, and a drop of liquid dishsoap before using. You can also use the BKF liquid recipe. It's also a good idea to employ BKF only when absolutely necessary.

Will heating the pan in the oven without oil harm it?

No, it will not cause harm. It was good after an hour of preheating at 450 degrees. You can also preheat on the burner, but don't forget about it and leave it on high heat for almost an hour, like I did once with one of mine.

Is this OK for deep frying?

Answer: Of course! This is an excellent product.

Is it possible for me to prepare steak?

Answer: You probably can, however for steaks and chops, I prefer to use the Le Creuset cast iron skillet grill pan. I believe this is better suited for stews, chilli, soups, and other similar dishes.

Last week, I was in Williams Sonoma and realised that some of LC is made in China. Why isn't this information on Amazon expressed clearly?

Answer: I'm not an expert on this and can't say for sure, but I was at a Lecruset outlet store a few years ago and all of the products were made in China. My older pots have a made in France engraved on the bottom of the pan. So, if it says it's still made in France, it's still made in France. I've heard of that, and I'm not sure if it's true with lecruset, but corporations occasionally have less costly products at the shops where everything was created in China.

Is the cookware's interior glaze free of lead and cadmium?

Answer: Here's what I found on the Le Creuset website in Canada: "Is Le Creuset free of lead and cadmium? Cadmium and lead are two components in cookware that are strictly regulated. Our current position for the entire production process is to comply with California Proposition 65, which is the world's most stringent requirement for these elements (approx. 10 times lower than "acceptable" limits). Lead is not used in our recipes, and cadmium is handled with a special anti-acid enamel fritt that prevents the cadmium pigment from dissolving during cooking. Cadmium is utilised as a colourant in the production of vibrant exterior colours like Flame and Cherry. Sand, white, or black enamel is used on the inner enamel that comes into touch with food."

What is the breadth of the bottom?

Answer: I've got a 5 1/2 quart saucepan. The bottom is 8 inches wide. This is my favourite size and I adore cooking in it. For me, it's been a fantastic investment.
