    FAQS :

Has anyone else had issues maintaining a constant connection? My iPhone continues to lose internet access despite the fact that it appears to be connected.

Answer: I, too, have this issue, however it only affects PCs. Only two of the six laptops I use to connect to the wireless network do not have this problem; the other four lose connectivity every hour or so. I have the Router Firmware Update set to automatic, so that's not an issue; I'm on version 1.1.3.181750 right now. I saw a suggestion in this thread to disable MU-MIMO, which I just done and will see what happens, but I suspect it will help because that setting appears to be only applicable to the 5GHz frequency, although the problem occurs for me on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz spectrums.

Is the wrt 3200 acm compatible with the tomato firmware?

Tomato has not been ported to these newer routers, unfortunately. Shibby Tomato may appear in the future, but he is slowing down and may be out of the game; I haven't heard from him in a long time. On two of these routers, I am running the most recent release of DD-WRT as of this writing with no issues. I have two WRT3200s linked to a WRT1900ACSV2 access point as bridged clients on 5GHz, and I utilise the 2.4 radio for my devices. This setup works great for me, and I'm able to cover around half of my 10 acres with strong connectivity. I've had a lot of success with them, and DD-WRT is a lot more stable and has a lot more features than the default firmware. If you decide to use DD-WRT, follow the download links to the betas directory, then look for current Linksys devices there. For the most up-to-date installation instructions and recommendations for this router, see the DD-WRT forum for the Marevel chipsets.

Is this anything that gets hot? Have you observed any throttling or instability concerns after a lot of use?

My unit does not get hot and runs at a moderate temperature. For ventilation, I have a lot of open area around the Linksys. With three users, there has been no instabilities.

What are the primary changes between this device and the old wrt1900 and ea6900, please?

The main differences between the EA9500 router and the WRT900AC and EA6900 routers. 1. The EA9500 features eight Gigabit Ethernet ports, whilst the other two routers only have four. 2. The EA9500 has concurrent Tri-band technology, whilst the other two routers only have dual bands. 3. The dual core 1.2 GHz processor is found in both the WRT1900AC and the EA6900, while the dual core 1.4 GHz processor is found in the EA9500. 4. The EA9500 PHY data speeds can reach 5.33 Gbps in total, whilst the other two routers can only reach 1.9 Gbps. The number of antennas is number five. There are eight (8) non-detachable, adjustable antennae on the EA9500, four (4) external antennas on the WRT1900AC, and three external antennas on the EA6900.

Is it suitable for Windows 10?

Yes, it is compatible with Windows 10 operating system. Windows 10 is the operating system I'm running.

Is there a service required to use this router?

In a technical sense, you don't. Any router can be configured to communicate with other computers or devices in your network (such as printers and scanners). If you anticipate to be able to access the internet, you will require internet service.

What are people's opinions on the firewall?

Answer: Without a doubt, it's the way to go unless you want to be able to tinker with the low-level and specifics yourself! - However, if you're a "nuts and bolts" (hands-on) type who understands exactly what you're looking for, you might want to consider the latest WRT series (WRT1900ACS) model instead. (http://www.amazon.com/Linksys-WRT1900ACS-Dual-Band-Gigabit-Router/dp/B014MIBLSA/ref=sr 1 4?ie=UTF8&qid=1458357368&sr=8-4) That would allow you to get right down to the nitty-gritty of how it handles everything from the firewall perspective, although of course you'd have "As always, your results may vary!" It's the difference between wanting it to work like 99 percent of people do and wanting to be able to manage every detail of what that firewall does, how it reacts to various stimuli, and so on. You're giving up the Mu-MiMo feature in exchange for the 1.6GHz dual processor additional horsepower and the opportunity to "build your own" firewall code, or at the very least improve the basics and add capabilities particular to your setup. It also adds the "eSATA" port, which is significantly more particular (assuming you need it, such as the ability to control an advanced NAS rather than a simple USB-attached storage device). With the dual (even though you still have two - both USB 2 and USB 3.0 ports) on the EA7500 model, you can't do it. I hope I didn't get too "into the weeds" for you, but there's no way to give you a simple answer if that's what you wanted to know. It's been a long time since I really needed to get down to the "nuts & bolts" you'd get out of the "Open Source Ready: Users gain unprecedented access to customise the router" section of the "Open Source Ready: Users gain unprecedented access to customise the router" section of the "Open Source Ready: Users gain unprecedented access to customise the router" section of the "Open Source Ready: Users gain unprecedented access to customise the router" section of the "Open Source Ready: Users gain unprecedented access to customise the router
