    FAQS :

Magnesium is a flammable element. The fact that this circular saw is composed of a flammable substance frightens me. Has anyone been burned by this circular saw?

Solid magnesium ignites at around 950°F. If the temperature around your saw is approaching a thousand degrees, you have more problems than a fire in your saw housing.

Is there a way to connect a shop vac/dust collector to this?

This was the one disappointing element of purchasing this saw. I can't believe how the guard handle has blocked the dust exit. It's quite frustrating.

What is the purpose of the cylindrical item that slides along the power cord?

Answer: It protects the power cable from sharp bending and cracking of the insulation around the wire, as well as from ripping out of the saw!

How long does it take to come to a halt without an electronic brake?

Answer: As you are aware, the electronic brake allows you to bring the circular saw to a complete stop with the press of a button. Without this feature, the saw would continue to rotate after you turn it off, and you will have to wait patiently for it to come to a complete stop. At 5800 RPMs, it takes less than one minute to come to a complete halt.

Does this saw come with the original Makita case?

The saw does not come with a case. It's a shame that the saw's base appears to bend quickly if you're not careful.

Is the base plate long-lasting? It's thinner than the plate on my Hitachi saw, but not as fragile as a lesser Skil saw. Will it be readily bent?

Answer: I have four of them, and the oldest is nearly ten years old. The only way to bend the base is to drop it onto concrete, which would shatter your other saws.

What are the key distinctions between this saw and the 7 1/4 magnesium saw, which is slightly heavier? Is the magnesium one more powerful?

The 5007F is heavier than specified in the description. It's a terrific saw, and I enjoy using it. Very forceful and easily cuts and rips. If I had to buy it again, I would choose the magnesium base. 1. The description indicates that it includes a rip fence, however it does not. 2. The weight is most likely the same as the magnesium model. 3. You receive the case. It may not appear to be a significant trait, but it is. I don't think either saw is a bad choice.

I require the blade's washer and bolt.

No, it does not. The washer and bolt are included with the saw.
