FAQS :

Do all four Ethernet ports on this modem produce the same amount of bandwidth, or do some only work at full capacity?

Answer: The Motorola MB8600 cable modem I received in May 2022 has just one ethernet port, not four. I'm sad since having an additional port is quite useful for troubleshooting with a directly connected laptop, avoiding the separate router that connects the MB8600 to the rest of the network.

Confirming that, despite multiple LAN ports, only one device may be linked to the modem?

Answer: The MB8600 will only support one device. You may connect the MB8600 to your computer or to a router. If you are paying for and receiving more than one IP address from your provider, you can directly connect up to four devices to the MB8600.

What do you recommend for wifi as well?

The MB8600 modem is compatible with any WiFi router. Given the MB8600's speed, you should need at least an AC1900 router, and depending on the other devices in your network, you may be able to benefit from wireless speeds even faster than AC1900.

Is there a router integrated into this modem?

Answer: NETGEAR Gigabit Cable Modem 32x8 DOCSIS 3.1 Max speed 6 Gbps | For Comcast and Cox's XFINITY. Compatible with Xfinity Gig-Speed Internet (CM1000-1AZNAS) This type is a no-router device, as seen by the single Ethernet connector. Netgear does not produce any cable modems that are dual units if there is just one Ethernet port; the point is that there is no router; if there is a router, there are at least two ports.

Is this compatible with Spectrum or U Verse IP?

Answer: I'm not sure about Spectrum, but ATT (Uverse) uses DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) technology, which is incompatible with DOCSIS (Data Over Cable). As a result, the quick answer is no. The Netgear modem is a cable modem.

Is WiFi available with this modem?

No, it is simply a cable modem. A router must be purchased separately. In most cases, having two different devices is preferable. I now have the Netgear R9000 router and the CM700. I plan to upgrade to the CM1000 as soon as Suddenlink offers DOCSIS 3.1.
