    I currently have Comcast triple play and intend to downgrade to Comcast internet just with Ooma phone. Is this a viable option for making this transition?

    I have Comcast/Xfinity Triple Play as well. When I added the phone and upgraded to Triple Play three years ago, it cost me $159.00 per month with all of the Premium channels. My monthly rate had gone up to $292.00 per month late last year, and they were considering boosting it another $18. I cancelled all of the Premium channels, returned one of the three HD adapters, and purchased this MT17711 instead of renting one on a monthly basis. My charge was reduced to $191.30. This modem is fantastic. It offers quicker Internet connections, and my outside gadgets are no longer dropping out. I still have the X1 DVR, but I don't need the Premium Channels. Installation was straightforward and completed entirely online, without the need to contact Xfinity.

    Upon reboot or when prompted by xfinity, the Mt7711 switches from bridge mode to eroute dualmode. Is anyone aware of a way to keep it in bridge mode?

    Answer: Your internet service provider is solely responsible for bridging the connection. When your modem or gateway connects to their DHCP server, it locks to your modem's MAC address. Some providers offer a configuration file that will overwrite the bridge mode every time you reset your modem. You can contact your internet service provider and request that your DHCP lease be released, causing the network to relearn what MAC is linked with your account. However, it's possible that it won't last and that the settings will revert to their prior state.     I recently upgraded to the 1000mbps plan and want to make the most of it. Will I be able to download at 1000mbps with this device?

    Answer: I recently updated from a gadget that only supported 200mbps to this one. My service is for 400 mbps, and I've seen a difference. With the 400 service, I was restricted to 200 words. I should be able to upgrade because this Motorola device supports 600. Although it should operate at 1000mbps, there is definitely a bottleneck that only allows 600mbps, hence I would not recommend it for 1000mbps.

    Is the Intel logo on the modem on this Aris surfboard SVG2482AC offered by Amazon as seen in the picture?

    The Intel Puma 6 chipset in this modem is faulty, causing issues with streaming video and gaming. Arris was aware of the issue as early as 2015, yet they nevertheless published this piece of garbage as "fresh" in 2017. If you want to use this for gaming or video streaming, you should avoid it at all costs.

    Is the hidden and/or unhidden "public xfinity wifi" SSID still broadcast by this device?

    Since switching to this modem, the Xfinity WiFi has vanished. I also turned off the modem's Wi-Fi in favour of a more capable Wi-Fi router.

    When I put this item in my shopping cart, the price is over $20 more. The price has risen to $189.

    Answer: Prices fluctuate all the time. Often, they just have a few, and when they're gone, it's on to the next vendor. It has occurred to me several times.

    I'm curious if "Bridge Mode" is supported.

    I'm not sure whether it's officially supported, but you may enable bridge mode on the device's interface. This effectively disables both wireless radios and provides you with a network connection to whatever you attach to it.

    Is the modem intended to function immediately once you plug it in?

    Answer: I had to follow Comcast's connecting instructions because I use their service, but it didn't take long. It's essentially a plug-and-play connection, and I didn't have to set up any additional security or passwords because I was replacing an older Arris modem.
