    Is there a basket that you can fill with your own espresso grinds rather than using capsules?

    Answer: Peeling or cutting the top off your official Nespresso espresso pods after use is a bit of work, but you can buy a Geesta aluminium foil reseal kit (one-time kit purchase, then only the aluminium foils going forward) to reuse the pods. Simply keep and clean your old Nespresso pods, grind your own espresso, and reseal the pod using Geesta foil. Use it over and over again.

    I purchased this less than two months ago, and the frother has now quit producing foam. Is it really that cheap?

    If there is any remaining dried milk or cream in the frother, it will not spin effectively if it turns on at all. After each use, make sure everything is clean.

    Is the essence small compatible with the original capsules?

    Yes, the ones with the "cone" shape rather than the dome shape. You can also use capsules made by other companies.

    It's possible that the problem is with the milk you're using. Some milk brands produce a rich, creamy froth, while others barely foam at all.

    The lungo setting has suddenly stopped operating and will not stop brewing automatically. Instead, it will brew the entire tank of water.

    There is a setting in the instruction booklet that will run the whole tank of water. It's used in the descaling process, which removes hard water buildup from the water lines. By pushing and holding the two top buttons for three seconds, you can stop the descaling process.

I believe that is the same Mr. Coffee. You don't have to fill it completely, but you do need to grind and tamp the beans to obtain the right brew time. It definitely makes for a more powerful double shot.

    Are there any significant differences between this model, the ecp3420, and the $80 more expensive ecp3630?

    I think the 3220, 3420, and 3630 are virtually the same machine-with the exception of a retailer sku variation 3220/3421 and a finish variation 3630-but you should double-check with De'Longhi to be sure. We purchased the 3220 locally and are finding it to be a really wonderful machine.
