    FAQS

Can you use one wan port to connect directly to your computer and one wan port to connect to your router with the cm1200 and xfinity home cable internet?

The CM1150V and CM1200 both feature four Ethernet ports. That does not negate the requirement for a router. These four Ethernet ports use link aggregation and two or more distinct IP addresses to facilitate future multi-gigabit services. The CM1100 includes two Ethernet ports for future link aggregation as well. The CM2000 or CM2050V with XFINITY voice capability are multi-gig cable modems (2.5 Gbps) without the requirement for aggregation. I'm aware that NETGEAR does not do a good job of communicating this to new purchasers, and I hope this information is useful to someone.

Why does your description claim 4x ethernet ports when there is only one?

Answer: Actually, Amazon displays the identical questions/descriptions for a variety of items. There are four ports on the CM1200, but just one on the CM1000.

What is the use of this modem if the LAN connection is just 1GB? It is not feasible to make use of the entire 6 GB bandwidth...

Answer: Docsis 3.1's potential peak speed is 6 gbps. You are accurate in that this LAN connection only supports 1 Gigabit per second. This modem is now helpful for persons who have cable internet connections that are faster than 300 mbps (however, it does work perfectly with slower internet connections as well). Xfinity's gigabit internet, for example, offers a download speed of 1 gigabit per second, and this modem is ideal for that.

Is it possible to utilise a phone to ethernet splitter for voice?

Answer: I use two Magic Jack VOIP adapters (phone and fax lines) and Magic Jack for phone service. It was far less expensive than utilising Comcast's VOIP service.

Is there a wps button on this modem that can be used to set up tp-link wifi extenders?

No, there is no WPS button on this device. Please keep in mind that this gadget is merely a cable modem with no built-in wifi.

    Is it WiFi 6 compatible?

Answer: Although this modem lacks Wi-Fi, the Ethernet output may be used to connect to a Wifi 6 router.

Is this compatible with WiFi 6?

This is merely a modem, not a WiFi access point. Wifi6 is still in its infancy, with few devices supporting it. You wouldn't even be aware of the advantages. Prices will reduce if you wait for WiFi 6 to be released.

Is it compatible with Verzion Fios?

No, this equipment is a cable modem, and it will only operate if you have a cable internet service provider subscription. It is not compatible with Verizon Fios.
