    FAQS :

Where are the other three ethernet ports that you claim to have?

In fact, this is due to the fact that Amazon frequently displays identical queries and product descriptions. There are four ports on the CM1200, but just one on the CM1000.

Is it possible to connect the computer to the cm1200's wan port directly and the router to the other wan port when using Xfinity's residential cable internet?

The CM1150V and the CM1200 share the same feature in that they each have 4 Ethernet ports. That's why a router is still necessary. The combination of link aggregation and two or more unique IP addresses on these four Ethernet ports makes it possible to offer future multi-gig services. There are two Ethernet ports on the CM1100 for potential link aggregation. The CM2000 and CM2050V with XFINITY voice capability are multi-gigabit cable modems (2.5 Gbps) that don't require aggregation. I'm aware that NETGEAR does not do a great job of explaining this to potential customers, so maybe this will be of some use. CM1100

That's right, a 2 Gigabit modem with, get this, 1 Gigabit Ethernet ports. not even 2.5gbit Who among the engineers bungled this project?

Which "engineer" is this, exactly? It was undoubtedly the marketing department's "beancounters." There are four Ethernet ports in this CM1200 model. however, only 2 can actually do their jobs. Link Aggregation is supported on the first two ports, allowing for transfer rates of up to two gigabits per second. It's designed to deceive trusting individuals into buying this model by including two more ports that do nothing. Also, this particular model is only Xfinity-certified for speeds up to 800 Mbps, so keep that in mind. This advertisement explicitly states as much. (also available on the Netgear website)

Can I trust Amazon because they say they're a "approved reseller?" Can we see this somewhere in writing? (otherwise, the Netgear one-year guarantee is null and void, according to the company's warranty details)

Answer: Make sure the seller you buy from is approved by NETGEAR and able to back up the warranty they offer. In cases where the "Seller" is not the manufacturer, the manufacturer or a designated third party will handle any warranty repairs or replacements.

If there is only one Ethernet port, why does your description refer to it as having four times as many?

Actually, this is due to the fact that Amazon displays the identical questions and product descriptions for several different items. In comparison, the CM1000 only has one port while the CM1200 has four.

Can you use one wan port to your computer for a direct connection when using the cm1200 with xfinity residential cable internet, and then use the other wan port to connect to the router?

Both the CM1150V and the CM1200 are equipped with four different Ethernet ports. That does not negate the requirement for a router in any way. By utilising link aggregation and having at least two separate IP addresses for each port, these four Ethernet ports are able to enable future multi-gigabit services. The CM1100 comes equipped with two Ethernet connections, both of which serve the same overarching goal of future link aggregation. You should choose either the CM2000 or the CM2050V with XFINITY voice support if you are looking for a multi-gig cable modem with a throughput of 2.5 Gbps that does not require aggregation.

Therefore, up to a 2 Gbit modem with a whopping 1 Gbit on each of the network ports. not 2.5gbit. Who among the engineers was to blame for this catastrophe?

Answer: which "engineer"? It was presumably people in marketing known as "beancounters." This particular model of the CM1200 features four ethernet ports. However, only two of them are operational. Link Aggregation can be performed on the first two ports, which will result in download speeds of up to two gigabits per second. The remaining two ports serve no purpose other than simply decorate this model in the hopes that trusting and naive customers will purchase it. It is important not to forget that the maximum speed that Netgear has certified for this model is 800 Mbps when used with Xfinity. This is what the advertisement states right here.
