    FAQS :

Can you add more satellite units? If I want more than three (the base and two satellites), which model should I order?

Answer: I believe you can because there is a package that includes four units (one base and three satellites), but you'll need to check with the vendor for the specific one.

Can I hardwire my computer to the satellite, and if so, what speeds should I expect?

Yes, the speed will be determined by the Internet access speed. You will get gig speed if you have a gig speed.

Is this product currently compatible with orbi smart parental control?

Answer: It should, but I haven't tried it yet.

Is the orbi rbk753 wi-fi system router and 2 extenders compatible with the spectrum system?

Yes, the Orbi's router replaces the router on your spectrum set (the router is the box that sends the Wi-Fi signal). Plug in your Orbi router, follow the instructions on the Netgear Orbi app, and set up your satellites on the Orbi app to cover your entire house.

The base rbr850 is Ethernet-connected to a router. Is it necessary for the satellite rbs850 to connect to the rbr850 via wifi, or can I use ethernet?

Answer: For backhaul, you should be able to connect an Ethernet cable. I would recommend using CAT6 cable. Backhaul wiring will be faster than wireless backhaul signal. CAT6 cabling is 1gb and PoE capable. Also, the cabling type that has been installed in recent years in new homes with digital ready features. Also, cabling length is limited to 100 metres (328 feet). I usually cut the cable at 300 feet. A football field of 300 yards is 300 feet. Unless you live in a mansion, cable length isn't an issue. The base router, which is the first hop from your home network to the internet provider's equipment, will provide the fastest wifi speeds. When you add more satellites (which are extenders), you'll be putting the first one close to the mesh router, just within signal range. Your next one would be within range of the first satellite. You'll notice that they talk about coverage in square feet and not exceeding so many square feet on a system. Because the signal quality of your satellites decreases as you move away from the router. MESH systems are ideal for small homes where a mesh router and one or two satellites are sufficient. The best configuration is to place the router in the centre of the house; you can always connect the ISP modem to the router with a cable. Set your satellites to be in range of the router rather than satellites. With Wifi signal as backhaul, you'll have a better and stronger setup. Backhaul and speed to satellites can be improved by wiring them to the router or switch that is connected to the router.

Is the Orbi router required, or can the Orbi satellites be used with an Xfinity router?

In my home, I have the RBK 853 system. I'm pretty sure that if you want to run Orbi satellites, you'll need the main Orbi router to take advantage of the Orbi system's excellent wifi 6 mesh features. Last weekend, I assisted a friend with an Xfinity modem/router box combination in setting up an Orbi system. Simply connect the main Orbi router to the internet and sync the satellites. WiFi is available on the first, second, basement, attic, and even outside in the yard. Spend the money and you'll never look back. Of course, this assumes you purchase the fast internet connection from Xfinity.

I bought the rbr50 and two rbs50s just before the release of the rbk852 bundle. What's the most cost-effective way to incorporate the 852?

Answer: Be cautious; one orbi series may not be compatible with another. Continue to use the rbr50's.
