Answer: I'd want to say yes, but we have one that's just a few years old, and when I tried to make Bulletproof Coffee with it, it sprayed the liquid all over the place as if it were under pressure. The seal blew regardless of how much strain was applied.

I'm seeking for anything that can emulsify veggies, comparable to a Vita-mix. Will this be sufficient?

Answer: It might not be able to combine a cell phone as well as the vitamix (I haven't tried!) However, for the price, it is an excellent mixer. We've been using ours twice to four times a day for the past four months and haven't had any issues.

What is the purpose of the red flashing power light? I can't get it to start mixing, even when the container is securely fastened.

Answer: On the lid, just where the arrows meet, there is a little button that breaks off. It informs the device that the lid is in place and secure. Because it can't press the button without it, the machine assumes the lid is missing.

Could this be used in place of a mixer? Can it, for example, make cookie dough, cake batter, egg whites, and so on?

The Ninja can effortlessly handle cookie dough and cake batter. However, it is a high-speed unit. This is not suitable for anything that requires mixing on low. I still have my mixer, which I use at moderate speeds. My Ninja does come with a "dough blade," which I use for pie crust, bread dough, and other similar tasks.

Can you use this blender with bigger cups? I can't seem to locate anything bigger than 16oz.

Answer: I have no idea. I have not yet used the cups. Every day, I create a blender full of vegetable/fruit smoothies to share with my spouse. This Ninja blender is fantastic.

Does it make pesto with basil?

Answer: Because the food processor bowl is so huge (eight cups), I prepare it in individual sized cups. I add pine nuts to my pesto, and the blender does an excellent job. Using the XL dish requires more work, in my experience. If you make the pesto thick, you'll need a spatula to push it off the sides of the bowl.
