    FAQS :

I always have issues with the cleaning station. Has anyone had any problems with this model?

Yeah, the pump died after 20 months. I'm using the stand to charge and dry the shaver after cleaning it manually. The station is only available as a repair part; however, it costs $100 plus shipping. Two of the previous categories failed for various reasons. The shavers are quite dependable. It's a shame they can't create a long-lasting automatic cleaning system.

Is this a razor-sharp shave? I dislike shavers that do not provide a close shave.

Answer: I just purchased this a few days ago and have observed that after multiple passes, it does produce a very close shave. I barely went through 1–2 passes the first day I got it and started understanding the learning curve. I only did it for about 10-15 minutes today, and it's as close to the skin as I could get with a regular razor. The battery life is still at 90%. This item comes highly recommended.

I recently received this shaver (without the cleaning base), and there is no mention of putting oil on the blades in the manual. Is it necessary to oil it?

Answer: Metal rubbing against metal 14,000 times per minute requires lubrication. Because the blades are far too expensive to replace frequently, adequate lubrication will help them last and remain sharp. I always use baby oil on my razor blades before shaving and wipe away the excess with a tissue.

This would be my first electric shaver, and I would shave in the shower. Is this entirely waterproof?

Answer: It is entirely waterproof. I've been using the Panasonic shower shaver for over 20 years. They are the greatest. I recommend changing the blades and the screen that covers the blades every 6 months to ensure a better shave.

Which of the Braun Series 7 or 9 and the Panasonic Arc 5 is more comfortable?

Answer: While Amazon won't let me provide you the link, there is a posted review of exactly what you're looking for. In a nutshell, Ovidiu Nicolae says that the Braun 9 is less annoying than the Panasonic Arc 5, but the Panasonic Arc 5 is closer to the ear.To upgrade your Arc 5 foil to the latest generation, seek out "Panasonic Replacement Blade Set for 5-blade ES9036 (Compatible ES9034 ES9032)." The new foil is claimed to be less irritating.

Does anyone know why the instructions advise unplugging after charging? I thought lithium-ion batteries couldn't be overcharged.

Answer: The Panasonic instructions and service both recommend unplugging; this is inconvenient, especially if you use the charging station as a storage unit on your counter. Nevertheless, there is a potential issue if you do not unplug. Some believe that if a battery is held at 100% charge, it will not live as long as one that is partially depleted before recharging. Hence, if you do not unhook and store the shaver in a clean station, the battery will remain at 100%. MY SOLUTION - Keep the station plugged in, rinse the shaver after use, PUT IN STATION AND TIP SHAVER FORWARD SO CHARGE CONTACTS DO NOT TOUCH, and charge clean and dry every 4 days.

What's the difference between the LV65 and the LV61?

Answer: This shaver has a sensing option that reportedly regulates the motor speed based on how thick your beard is, with the premise being that some hairs would be trimmed better at a slower speed. With relation to that... First, I don't believe it—quicker oscillations equal better cuts. It cuts if the hair goes through the foil. Second, if you shave with foam, it will always recognize your beard as requiring maximum power. Finally, even with a steel beard, it can't travel faster than 14,000 RPM.

How do you charge the shaver?

Answer: The charging port is at the tail of the shaver, or if you have a dock for cleaning and drying, it will charge automatically with the dock. Description: Panasonic LV65 vs LV95
