Answer: Every month, I take a 24- to 35-hour flight to Africa with the 20-can. This cooler performs admirably. Both on its own and inside a larger bag, I have used it as carry-on and checked baggage. I've owned two of them for more than a year. They're monsters. One of my items fell off the back of the boat at a high rate of speed, floated despite being loaded down with ice and beer, was tossed around and slowly recovered, but was unharmed and clean of seawater. They can withstand damage and are totally waterproof. The only two things to keep in mind are to apply zipper oil and to avoid storing them with anything on top of them, as this will cause them to deform (though they will ultimately regain their original shape). Another piece of advice is to store items with dampness to prevent mold growth. I used a vinegar spray to remove the mold. (I filled it with empty cans and bottles and melted ice for a month.)

I don't know how long the RTIC Soft Pack 40 would keep ice cream or other frozen foods frozen. I'm not sure how long it would keep them frozen, but it would definitely do so for a while.
