    FAQS :

Is it possible for ARRIS/Motorola to provide firmware upgrades for the 6183 through downloads to the consumer's own computer? If not, what is the reason behind this?

Answer: If there are any updates available, you will be able to download them just as you would for any other piece of computer hardware. You have complete control over what you download and whatever modem you use, and the cable providers have no authority over this. When not utilising the proper protocols, it may not function, but they will not disqualify those that do work in this case. Furthermore, virtually any gateway/router hardware will function. It should be noted that the cable company has no influence over the router/firewall you choose to use on your network.

The SB6183 and the SB6180 are two different models of modem. What is the difference between them?

Answer: The SB6180 supports channel bonding of up to 8 downstream channels and 4 upstream channels, allowing an operator to provide advanced multimedia services to their customers at data rates of well over 300 Mbps in DOCSIS mode and 400 Mbps in EuroDOCSIS mode for downstream and 120 Mbps for upstream. The SB6183 features a total of 16 download channels and 4 upload channels. Depending on your Cable provider service, you may expect download speeds of up to 686 Mbps and upload rates of up to 131 Mbps. That is the most significant distinction I could uncover. I hope that is of assistance.

Do the majority of customers require such a fast cable modem? I have Comcast this overkill or is it futureproofing with docis 3.1 on Horizaen? I have Comcast this overkill or is it futureproofing?

Answer: Yes, DOCSIS 3.1 is now available. A number of enhancements will be made with the initial batch of cable modems that use the standard. As is true of many technologies, they do not become widely available suddenly. In most circumstances, it takes years for a technology to become available and mature in the marketplace - often as long as three to five years. Even if 15 to 20% of the market adopts DOCSIS 3.1 in the first or second year, that still leaves 80 percent of the market without it. Future-proofing your technology is a good thing, but it's also important to have a sense of proportion while doing so. I went to the ARRIS SB6183 with the knowledge that my Internet service provider provides 200 Mbps. It provides a significant amount of breathing room for expansion. If my ISP's average speeds increased to 500 Mbps and I were to consider another cable modem upgrade, I would look for a faster cable modem that uses the DOCSIS 3.1 standard, or any newer and more powerful standard, which would allow me to benefit from the latest standards and speeds while maintaining my current speeds. In two to three years, the DOCSIS 3.0 standard may be reaching the end of its useful life. As a result, I do not see the benefit of upgrading to a 1.4 Gbps DOCSIS 3.0 modem.

Is there a wps button on this modem that can be used to set up tp-link wifi extenders?

No, there is no WPS button on this device. Please keep in mind that this gadget is merely a cable modem with no built-in wifi.

    Is it WiFi 6 compatible?

Answer: Although this modem lacks Wi-Fi, the Ethernet output may be used to connect to a Wifi 6 router.

Is this compatible with WiFi 6?

This is merely a modem, not a WiFi access point. Wifi6 is still in its infancy, with few devices supporting it. You wouldn't even be aware of the advantages. Prices will reduce if you wait for WiFi 6 to be released.

Is it compatible with Verzion Fios?

No, this equipment is a cable modem, and it will only operate if you have a cable internet service provider subscription. It is not compatible with Verizon Fios. Description:
