    FAQS :

Is this machine capable of sewing through heavy canvas or leather?

Answer: This machine is not intended for use with leather or heavy-duty canvas. With the proper needle, it may be able to sew through two layers of canvas, but that is about the maximum weight it can withstand. I can sew up to three layers of denim or two layers of upholstery vinyl, but heavier items may damage the machine. It's a great small machine that I use for 6-8 hours a day, but it's not really built for industrial sewing of heavy utility materials.

Can I use my metal bobbins in my machine, or must I use plastic ones?

Answer: Except for older early singers with metal bobbin cases, all top load machines use plastic bobbins. There is a magnetic ring attached to the hook centre that keeps the plastic bobbin case from rattling and slows its movement. If you use metal bobbins, they become held by the magnetic transfer through the bobbin case floor (metal) and limit or restrict bobbin rotation. If you remove the magnet, you can use metal bobbins, but it will be noise

Is there a foot pedal on this machine?

Answer: It does have a short foot pedal, which I have attached with double sided tape to a wood flooring sample. That fixes the issue of it not quite reaching the floor, and because the pedal is as light as a feather, it was always spun around, upside down, or on its side when I stepped on it, but not anymore.

Can a novice operate this machine? I'm considering the speed.

Yes, this is one of the simplest machines to operate. You will quickly become accustomed to using the foot pedal to control the speed. I've given several of these machines as gifts. I also have two of these machines on hand at all times. They employ leatherwork, quilting, and wearable art like jackets and shirts. A fantastic machine!!!
