    FAQS :

Is it possible for this to monitor the temperature of the barbecue? I've seen several that have clips that allow them to attach to grates....

The grill clip was not included with this item when it was purchased. However, my previous one had that capability, and I intended to apply it to this one in order to accomplish the same thing with one of the channels. So yes you can

What's the difference between the TP27 and the TP28? Which one is the better option?

Answer: In my opinion, they are really similar to one another. (wireless remote to a range of up to 500 feet etc.) The most important distinction, however, is that the TP27 has four temperature probes rather than two. If you plan on barbecuing a variety of meats on the grill, having four of these could come in handy. I needed mine exclusively for the oven in the kitchen. Simply googling "Thermopro TP27" will take you to the company's website, where you can read about their comparison.

can I change to celcius degree?

Answer: Yes you can. It is a button on the transmitter (where the probes go), and it is located on the bottom left.

Do you think this would work for deep-frying a turkey?

Yes, but take care not to completely drown the probes in oil. Simply insert the tips into the turkey beginning at the top.

Can the alarm be turned off at the base but still function from a distance? And can you disable the alarm without turning off operational beeping (buttons, lights)

Response: Yes. The base unit has three different modes: silent, vibrating (or both), and audible beat. It took me a minute of button mashing to figure this out. I have a hard time following directions.

If we use a rechargeable battery, does it have a charging slot? If so, does it function with 220v?

The unit cannot be plugged in to charge batteries because there is no slot. This uses AAA batteries, which must be changed as necessary. I would guess that these batteries wouldn't need to be changed for a while. Rechargeable batteries will be used for operation, however they must be charged separately.

    Do smaller probes exist?

In response, I'm also searching for one or two shorter probes. I really enjoy this thermometer, and the included probes are excellent, however sometimes shorter or curved probes might be helpful. Really, the only problem I have with this thermometer is that. I'm hoping they release a shorter probe to go along with this.

A low and high temperature range can be specified. For instance, does the barbecue or smoker inform you if the temperature falls below a certain level?

The option for high or low alert is absent. It only warns when the meat reaches the proper temperature. However, you may check the ambient temperature with the second probe.
