The cartridge slips into the drum and the drum seldom has to be changed...

Answer: Although there is no explicit expiration date written on the box, there is a number imprinted in black ink on one end of the box 130628, which might indicate an expiration date of June 28, 2013, but I am not certain.
That being said, I only purchase them in little quantities and have never had a terrible experience with them.
I simply wait till the printer indicates that it is low on ink before ordering another.
It arrives a long time before I truly run out of money.
